D.C.

So I went to visit D this weekend in Washington, D.C. I really had a great time seeing all the sites, eating all the food, drinking all the ...water and stuff. I had never been before, so I was anxious to see all the sights. And I almost did. Really. We were on bikes for a lot of the time, so that allowed us to zip from one place to the next much more quickly than if we'd been on foot. Saw the Lincoln Memorial, Washington Monument, Jefferson Memorial, the Vietnam Wall, the World War II Memorial, FDR Memorial, National Gallery of Art, Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History, Freer Gallery, Sackler Gallery, the White House, Capitol Building, U.S. Botanic Garden, Holocaust Museum. All very cool. I was blown away by being inches away from Monets, Renoirs, Van Goghs, and Gaguins. I had no idea all that stuff was there, and it really wasn't that crowded. And FREE! Like everything else listed above. Our tax dollars are hard at work there, that's fo sho.

I liked the nightlife and restaurant scene too. Had some amazing sushi. I really dig the town.

Nice pic of you two in front of our country's most famous phallic symbol!

I would have been more impressed by being that close to the seat of our government, but that's because I suck at appreciating art. I'm glad you had fun!

Come on, CHip. What's going on here?

Mike McDonnel's been looking for you for six years.

He has some of your stuff.

He finally gave it up and left it at my house.

Only, I don't know what to do with it at this point.

Do you even listen to Oingo Boingo anymore?

I'm just gonna put it down the disposal.

Ok, let the guessing begin... who is friends of mcdougal?

Friends of McDougal said...

Not who, but what.

Friends of McDougal is a consortium of likeminded aristocrats dedicated to sustaining the memory of dear old McDougal ... and Maurice Champion.

The real question is who is McDougal?

But all in all, it was good seeing you again.

Family looks great.

Take care,
F of M

Guess #1: Glenn Hopper.

was it the mike mcdonnel reference?

It was. Who else knows that crazy guy? The only other guess I had was Fry Arnold, but sensed cracker-ness.

Jeff Hartlein, oh lordy.

DC has awesome food. On my last trip though I didn't get to eat any of it and I sure was sad.

Oh hey, thanks for the link over there--can you update it? :)

Chip,
Did you realize your mom was born in Alexandria, VA, just across the Potomac from D.C? We used to take her in her stroller to some of the sites you mentioned. Love your blog site.
