Tomatoes

Because I'm such a joiner, I had to get in a food list. There are plenty of foods I prefer not to eat, but not many that I simply refuse to put in my mouth. Here's a list about my very least favorite food, and the conditions under which it might pass my lips.
1. No raw tomatoes.
2. No chunks of tomatoes.
3. Salsa is okay, as long as it's not chunky and I don't actually scoop any tomato chunks onto my chips.
4. Ketchup- absolutely not.
5. Pizza- I prefer white sauce/olive oil/pesto to red sauce, but as long as there is more cheese than sauce I can handle it.
6. Spaghetti- eh. If there's a lot of meat in the gravy, I can do that, but not just regular marinara.
7. I would rather be punched in the face than have to even watch someone else eat tomato aspic.

Words escape me. The only one that comes to mind is lunatic. You are a lunatic. This post just might require me to apologize to Kristy for years of complaints about her food "strangeness." Do you understand? Apologize. To Kristy. I don't do that.

I kid. I'm a kidder. No, really. You're nuts!

I forgot #8: Cocktail Sauce- Are you kidding me with that crap?

I've noticed that people simply can't just not prefer tomatoes. If someone doesn't like tomatoes, it never seems to stop there. They have to HATE them. Why? It's the same phenomenon as people who like purple. People who say purple is their favorite color always seem to be a tad bit obsessed with it.

ps--ketchup? really?

I was never thrilled about tomatoes either--until I ate one that was homegrown. I managed to convert one of my coworkers, a formerly devout tomato hater, with my marinated homegrown tomatoes in balsamic vinaigrette.

growing up i was insanely picky and hated all vegetables, except the glorious tomato. yum.

and yes, homegrown is the bestest.

I love nothing more than a warm, ripe summer tomato drizzled with just a teensy bit of salt. And then there's the insalata Caprese. I feel for you tomato haters. You're missing out. I'm drooling dreaming for summer.
